The Story Behind

TWO16 Photography

TWO16 Photography wasn’t built overnight—it’s the culmination of a lifelong fascination with printed imagery, countless hours of dedication, and a drive to turn creative sparks into something extraordinary. Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Jason is a commercial photographer with nearly two decades of experience. TWO16 has become a trusted name for Alcohol, Wine, and Product Branding Photography.

Jason’s journey began with a BFA in Photography from Kendall College of Art and Design, where he immersed himself in exploring complex narratives through conceptual fine art photography. While many of his classmates were honing their technical skills, Jason was busy creating fictional characters and unraveling themes of societal structure, cultural identity, and human emotion. Translation: he didn’t just take photos—he orchestrated entire worlds, one frame at a time.

Jason is more than just a creator—he’s a scholar of the craft. With a foundation built on studying photography, art history, painting, drawing, printmaking, bookmaking, graphic design, 3D conceptual design, and video production, Jason paired formal education with a relentless drive to master his medium.

His dedication extended to independent studies in printmaking, conceptual bookmaking, and photography, culminating in a solo fine art series created over six weeks on the road across five European countries.

After college, he dove headfirst into the trenches of commercial photography, collaborating with industry heavyweights across fashion, live music, and luxury architecture. He’s melted gear case wheels on the summer streets of Chicago, taken a punch to the face while shooting a live show, and climbed a mountain pass to carry an elderly woman to safety—just another day on set. He’s seen it all, done it all—and has the stories (and maybe a few scars) to prove it.

Today, Jason’s expertise lies in Alcohol, Wine, and Product Branding photography—each project offering a new puzzle to solve and a story to tell. He thrives on being the first to shape the narrative of a fresh product, crafting visuals that could define its relevance for years to come. He’s known for creating hero imagery and lifestyle content that not only showcases products but also drives audiences to want them. Whether it’s capturing the rich hues of a small-batch bourbon or curating visuals for a world-class winery, Jason approaches every project with the same mindset: find the hook, amplify it, and make it utterly irresistible.

With clients ranging from heritage spirits brands to tech innovators, Jason’s work has appeared on global marketing campaigns, in premium publications, and on the shelves of stores across the world. His ability to merge technical precision with creative flair is what sets TWO16 apart—and keeps clients coming back for more.

If you’re ready to work with someone who doesn’t just take pictures but creates imagery that grabs attention and drives results, Jason Barnes is the photographer who delivers. TWO16 Photography is where refined expertise and sharp creative vision come together to produce visuals that command attention. You won’t just get photos—you’ll get visuals that stop your audience in their tracks and make them say, "I have to have this."
